I am not sure what made me investigate this except to say I do ask the Lord each day to guide and direct my path and ask for His wisdom on things. Most of us think of healings as Yeshua (Jesus) did mainly with His ministry as being a miracle that and life and death things ones are spared from and live. I investigated the word itself, never had I looked up the Greek meaning or Hebrew meaning of the word. I started there!
Meanings of the word Miracle
I used book of John, it says this: miracle, sign, token, wonder:
neuter of a presumed derivative of the base of G4591; an indication, especially ceremonially or supernaturally:—miracle, sign, token, wonder neuter noun
G4591 means: sēma (a mark; of uncertain derivation); to indicate:—signify. a verb
People forget that God still does today if you are ever blessed to see a rainbow in the heavens. We were told as kids, if it rains with the sun being out to look for the rainbow. Yet how many times have you ever been blessed to see one? It is a miracle of God’s to us all. Scripture has it regarding the flooding of the earth plus mentions the exact word in the book of Revelations.
Genesis 9:13 (KJV) I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
It happened here at my house the rain with the sun out for a bit and I looked for one but to many clouds to see one, but I always check. I have seen maybe 5 in my full lifetime, and I am 75 yrs old. Rare it is to see them.
Miracles in our daily lives
Well keeping miracle, sign, token, wonder signify in mind for daily lives even lets look at a few things and see just how much credit we give to the Lord for things. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
- prayer journals asking for many different things. Jobs, needs, finances, and health things. Is the health thing the only thing you recognize as a miracle?
- Solving major problems. This could apply to lots, even students not prepared for a test and pass it. For business people solving problems? Miracles? Does God get the glory for it? Most don’t even pray for themselves this way either. So why would it fit miracle, sign, token, wonder signify
I am just as guilty as everyone and I am sure there is much more than this not even coming to my mind we fail to give God the glory for. Do you think it is something He will forgive us for? Who even asks that type question. Lots to think about where miracles are concerned for sure. Ponder these things.
